Colon Cancer Sucks Ass

Good News... It's About Time!

I only have the energy for a quick update. Last Friday I had a CT scan to see what effects chemotherapy is having on the tumors in my liver. I saw Dr. W today and although the final report is not in, he looked over the scans and said that there is definite improvement from where I was three months ago. My CEA number (a blood marker that is raised by cancer cell growth) has been going down. Overall, things are going in the right direction. This is all VERY good news.

Good news is a huge understatement. I would have to say it is GREAT news! This sounds like the perfect opportunity to schedule a time for me to visit. You should round up the troops, I will do the same here and we can have a weekend renedezvous in Las Vegas. How does that sound? Shoot me an e-mail at one of these addresses as I am not good at checking the blog as often as I should.

Good for you! Talk about courage in the face of something so difficult - I love that you've dealt with this challenge with positive energy, good humor, and grace. I've had a couple of people in my family pass away from cancer, and I feel like telling people about my experience with the disease honors their memory in some way.

You're the perfect example of what a survivor is. If you want to help spread the word about colon cancer, check out www.cancer.org/colonfab50 - it's a site where people can learn more about colon cancer, send e-cards to loved ones telling them to get tested, read blogs from others who are getting colonoscopies; you can even watch video of a doctor removing a polyp. It's just a good resource for those who want to get more informed about colon cancer.

You're in my thoughts and prayers - keep your head up :).
